AENOR Mark N for cements

The AENOR N Mark certifies compliance with the requirements applicable to cements, making it easier to demonstrate compliance with the Instruction for the Reception of Cements (RC-16) and the applicable articles of the Structural Code.

The AENOR N Mark requires that cements not only meet standardized requirements, but also increases the level of demand, as it complies with national and European regulatory requirements, such as the Instruction for the Reception of Cements (RC-16), the part of the Structural Code that applies to cements, Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 18 December 2006, so that the AENOR N Mark complies with the requirement of the water-soluble chromium (VI) content in cement.

The AENOR N Mark for cements is accredited by the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC):

  • And it is a quality mark in accordance with the Instruction for the Reception of Cements (RC-16) and is declared by the competent Administration as an alternative to the regulatory approval in accordance with Royal Decree 1313/1988, which declares the approval of cements for the manufacture of concretes and mortars for all types of works and prefabricated products to be mandatory.

  • For the activity of certification of conformity with the regulatory requirements of cements not subject to CE marking (white cements resistant to seawater and sulfate-resistant SRC).

  • For the authorization of distribution centers of any type of cement according to Royal Decree 605/2006 which approves the procedures for the application of the UNE-EN 197-2 standard to cements not subject to CE marking and to distribution centers of any type of cement.

AENOR certification makes it easier for manufacturers to bring their cement to market while providing greater confidence to the user by minimizing consumer risk. This facilitates on-site acceptance by reducing mandatory inspections and thus simplifying the technical and documentary management of the construction project, resulting in cost reductions for all parties involved.

A very outstanding feature of AENOR certification is the monitoring of certified cements in the market, which verifies not only that the product available there complies with the established requirements, but also that it maintains over time the characteristics and properties it had when it was manufactured.

Benefits

In addition to the benefits that all products certified with the AENOR N Mark have.

The manufacturer obtains

  • Safety in compliance with the Chromium VI content.

  • It complies with the Instruction for the reception of cements (RC-16), approved by Royal Decree 256/2016 which establishes the technical specifications that cements must meet until their delivery, thanks to the voluntary AENOR N Mark, which guarantees its conformity with respect to standards and regulatory provisions.

  • The AENOR Mark is recognized by the Ministry as an officially recognized (DOR) RC-16 mark, which distinguishes products with a level of guarantee higher than the minimum required by RC-16 by having rigorous product control in the factory, external verification with tests in laboratories accredited by ENAC in accordance with the EN ISO 17025 standard, audits and inspections of its raw material facilities and quality system, as well as monitoring in the market of certified cements.

  • AENOR issues its certificates under the accreditation of ENAC in accordance with the EN ISO 17065 standard and has the endorsement of the Public Administration responsible for official recognition.

To designers and builders:

  • Ease of optimization in the calculation and design of the structure.

  • More favorable calculation criteria (lower material safety factors, shorter anchorage lengths, etc.).

  • In the pre-supply phase, it allows for a reduction in the required documentary control and, in some cases, allows for avoiding the verification of raw materials, the manufacturer's facilities and even prior product testing.

  • In the supply phase, it allows exemption from experimental checks, eliminating all on-site reception tests, which translates into significant savings in quality control of the work.

  • Collaboration with professionals in the sector.

To the project management and ownership

  • It provides confidence by having more information about the products installed, including their traceability and factory controls.

  • Rigorous quality control at the factory.

  • Simplified control program.

  • Savings in construction control.

  • Reduction of non-conforming products and, in turn, the associated costs.

  • Rapid response to product quality issues.

  • Participation of an independent certification body and the Public Administration.

  • Risk reduction.

  • Elimination of bad practices.

  • Guarantee of required environmental compliance (ISMA).

Continuous monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual evaluations of the cement allow us to anticipate any issues that may arise in compliance with conformity criteria.

Through the contrast tools used by AENOR, the manufacturer's laboratory used for self-monitoring is kept under control so that the relevant corrections are made and deviations are avoided.

Additionally, AENOR verifies that manufacturers' laboratories are contained within the environment of trust of the verification laboratories through five annual Interlaboratory programs and with the participation of a large list of laboratories (accredited, official, manufacturers' and control) both national and international.

The implementation by AENOR of the control programs for breaking devices provides the guarantee that the reference equipment used by AENOR serves as a trusted standard for the manufacturer and for monitoring by the verification laboratory.

The measuring equipment used by AENOR in its factory inspections has been properly calibrated by ENAC-accredited laboratories to guarantee metrological traceability.
