Sustainable Rehabilitation and Sustainable Reform Certifications
AENOR's Sustainable Refurbishment certification guarantees efficiency, quality and environmental respect in construction projects, improving their sustainability and value.
One more step in building sustainability
AENOR has developed two new certification solutions, Sustainable Refurbishment and Sustainable Refurbishment, which take a further step forward in building sustainability, in addition to the existing Sustainable Building Certification.
The Sustainable Renovation and Sustainable Renovation certifications address, fundamentally, the improvement of energy efficiency in residential and non-residential buildings, as well as other important sustainability indicators such as carbon footprint, waste, efficient water consumption and healthy and comfortable spaces.
Granting of marks and certificates
AENOR offers the Sustainable Refurbishment certification, ensuring the improvement in energy efficiency and positive environmental impact in building refurbishment projects.

The AENOR Sustainable Renovation Certification is intended for renovations of residential or commercial units (flats/apartments or premises) in residential or non-residential buildings.

In the case of the AENOR Sustainable Rehabilitation Certification, it is intended for global renovations in the building, which can only be in the building envelope (façade rehabilitation) or also comprehensive actions where the building's homes are rehabilitated.
In addition, the new AENOR Certificates for Sustainable Rehabilitation and Sustainable Reform evaluate the requirements for the granting of subsidies (which Royal Decree 853/2021 establishes for rehabilitation programs). This facilitates access to the aid established for the regeneration of the housing stock from the Next Generation EU Funds.
New certificates of Sustainable Rehabilitation and Sustainable Reform
AENOR's two new certification solutions, Rehabilitation and Sustainable Reform, address the improvement of energy efficiency after these processes. José Andrés Martínez, Construction and Industry Manager, analyses the keys to implementing them successfully.
