The primary sector faces a series of challenges in the coming years motivated by new consumption habits and by the growing consumer sensitivity to animal husbandry systems for food production.

Aspects such as animal welfare, the origin or limitation of the use of antibiotics, are becoming increasingly important and contribute to an improvement in the competitiveness of the sector and an added value for an increasingly demanding consumer. 

Animal production in farms and aquaculture centers contemplates the use of antibiotics in their processes, with a main objective being the selective application to avoid the spread of bacterial resistance.

Certification of Antibiotic-Free Animal Production.  The purpose of the audit procedure is to determine the conformity of the entire production process of antibiotic-free animals. Thus, AENOR certification provides added  value that contributes to an improvement in consumer confidence, as well as contributing to control strategies against bacterial resistance to antibiotics.
