AENOR certifies the following road safety products for highways and public roads with the N Mark: road equipment, lighting supports, covering and closing devices for traffic areas.

Certification of these products guarantees that they meet the requirements established in regulations regarding visibility, durability, and resistance to climatic and environmental factors.

Covering and enclosure devices for circulation areas

Covering and enclosure devices, such as manhole covers and grates, are essential for ensuring safety on streets, roads, and other traffic areas, protecting underground infrastructure such as sewage and telecommunications networks. Certification of these products guarantees their mechanical strength and ability to withstand vehicular traffic without compromising user safety.

The objective of the N Mark for Roads and Highways is to ensure compliance with the requirements applicable to each product, so that the manufacturer, among other things, can demonstrate compliance with the requirements demanded by the regulations included in the General Technical Specifications for Road and Bridge Works, PG-3, the Electrotechnical Regulation for Low Voltage, the Construction Products Regulation and RD 2642/1985.

The AENOR N Mark for lighting supports

AENOR's product certification for lighting supports facilitates on-site acceptance , reducing the necessary tests and checks and thus simplifying the technical and documentary management of the construction management.

Currently, the N Mark for Lighting Supports encompasses the certification of the following types of supports:

  • Steel lighting columns and poles ( UNE-EN 40-5 )

  • Aluminum lighting columns and poles ( UNE-EN 40-6 )

  • Lighting columns and poles made of fiber-reinforced polymer composite materials ( UNE-EN 40-7 )

  • Steel columns with a height greater than 20 m (AENOR technical specification)

A particular requirement for these products is that the manufacturer is asked to submit the calculation hypotheses for the sections of the supports to be certified, in order to verify that these elements will comply with the structural loads for which they have been designed.

Likewise, it is verified that the access doors to the electrical network comply with the minimum protection requirements established in the Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation.

The AENOR N Mark for covering and closing devices for circulation areas

The AENOR N Mark for covering and closing devices for circulation areas used by pedestrians and vehicles facilitates the acceptance of the covering and closing devices on site , allows reducing the necessary tests and checks, thus facilitating the technical and documentary management of the Construction Management.

The AENOR N Mark for cementitious covering and closing devices is accredited by the National Accreditation Entity ( ENAC).
