Timely accessibility certification
The Verified Web Accessibility certification ensures that websites comply with the UNE-EN 301549 and WCAG standards, through technical evaluations and annual audits
Internet for all: a global challenge, a legal requirement, a commitment from all
Accessibility allows access to the web and its contents regardless of the type of hardware, software, network infrastructure, language, geographical location and capabilities of the users. It covers most of the disabilities that people may have (physical, visual, hearing, and cognitive impairments), as well as the needs of older people. It is therefore a basic element for equal opportunities and non-discrimination.
Developing an accessible website has other additional benefits, such as improving usability and positioning in search engines, reuse of content and interoperability, reducing the load on the server and the necessary bandwidth, etc.
The certificate of conformity for website accessibility is aimed at organizations that want to guarantee the accessibility of a development, content or website, and both for those who make it and for those who contract or receive it. This is a one-off certification that does not incorporate requirements for monitoring the level of accessibility of the website.
Some of its features are:
-
It allows to certify the AA and AAA accessibility levels of the websites, with the standard UNE-EN 301549 Accessibility requirements for ICT products and services and, therefore, in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).
-
It reflects compliance with the level of accessibility required by law for companies, bodies and public administrations, at the time of its granting. Therefore, it does not include periodic monitoring requirements for the website and/or certified web content.
-
It is designed to demonstrate compliance with the standard in customer/supplier relationships.
-
It applies to any type of content, published or to be published, with special emphasis on Web content accessed through user applications. For example, it can be applied to an entire website, or to parts and sections of it, as well as to templates and any type of content to be published.
-
It includes carrying out a technical accessibility inspection, reviewing the action plan to correct the problems identified and verifying the corrections made.
-
It organises and brings together the commitments, knowledge and experience of AENOR, Fundación CTIC and Tecnalia with respect to web accessibility.
