Resumen:
This standard applies to dosimetry and irradiation planning in radiation therapy with photons in the energy range greater than 1 MeV to 20 MeV. Basic principles are formulated, and terms, procedures, parameters and characteristic data for characterizing the radiation quality of photon radiation inside absorbers (body of the radiation therapy patient, body phantoms), as well as for the purposes of irradiation planning are defined. It thus forms a supplement to the DIN 6809-1 standard, which refers to the radiation quality of the radiation entering the absorber from outside in teletherapy. The additional physical influences to be considered include the energy-dependent weakening and scattering of photons and the production of secondary electrons in the absorber material. In addition to the definition of suitable quantities and the representation of correlations, this standard includes tables of values and application examples as an aid to practical application. The first focus of this standard is the identification of photon and secondary electron spectra in absorbers. The second focus of this standard is the material and tissue properties dependent on the photon and secondary electron energy, and the third focus is the consideration of radiation quality in irradiation planning.
