The pre-standard series DIN V 18599 provides a method for assessing the overall energy efficiency of buildings. The calculations allow the assessment of all amounts of energy that are required for proper heating, DHW heating, air conditioning and lighting of buildings. The pre-standard series DIN V 18599 also takes into account the mutual influence of energy flows and points to planning consequences. In addition to the calculation method, usage and operational boundary conditions for a neutral assessment to determine the energy requirement are also specified (independent of individual user behavior and local climate data). The pre-standard series DIN V 18599 is suitable for determining the long-term energy requirements for buildings or even parts of buildings and to estimate the possible uses of renewable energies for buildings. The procedure is equally applicable to existing buildings as well as existing buildings or construction works. DIN/TS 18599-13 describes a method based on precalculated tables for non-residential buildings. The tables are determined according to the general approaches from the individual parts of this series of pre-standard series.
