Resumen:
This document applies to testing of the effectiveness of steam disinfection equipment in accordance with DIN 58949-2, including the disinfection process. The draft standard includes test types, test loading, test equipment and biological indicators, test scope as well as implementation and evaluation. Annex B gives examples of the distribution of biological indicators and thermocouples. The task of disinfection is to kill pathogens on and in contaminated objects. The steam disinfection procedures described in the draft standard E DIN 58949-3 are primarily used for disinfecting bed fittings, but also waste. As a rule, the devices are part of the central bed preparation. The use of a system for disinfecting both bed equipment and infectious waste is problematic due to the risk of soiling and unpleasant odours. However, with appropriate organisational separation, joint use of the equipment for disinfecting bed fittings and waste is also conceivable. This document was prepared by the Working Committee NA 063-04-03 AA "Disinfection apparatus" in the DIN Medical Standards Committee (NAMed).
